Tip of the Week
Snails aren’t just for eating
algae! Freshwater snails make wonderful pets as additions to many aquariums.
But remember, most snails do not thrive on algae and will need their diet
supplemented with other goodies! More info to come when the new Snail Care
page is up!

Week Archives
Socialize Those Puppies!
Puppies need socialization early in life in order to be that well mannered polite dog later on. Puppy classes are an essential part of the puppy training process.
Check Your Aquarium Equipment
Daily!
These items work well and make aquarium up keep easier but it's still
possible that they mail fail at some point. Check the integrity of
your filter daily. Be sure your heater is working properly and
have a thermometer in the tank so you can check the water
temperature. Air pumps should be checked to be sure they are
producing enough oxygen for those fish who need it. It's better to
take the time to check than to end up with a sick fish.
Add variety to your bird's diet!
Pet birds should not have a diet consisting of one food source. An
all seed diet will greatly reduce your bird's lifespan. Even a
bird that is fed a diet of only pellets is not getting the nutrition and
variety it needs. Be sure to change it up a bit. Fresh
fruits and vegetables, cooked brown rice, wheat and grains, and even
some cooked legumes would benefit the bird's health. When feeding
various fruits and vegetables, it's best to serve them fresh. Use
nature as your source for deciding what to feed your pet bird and think
of what they would eat if they were in the wild.
Quarantine
those fish!
Anytime a new fish is going to be added to a tank of current fish, or if
multiple fish are going to be added, they must be quarantined in a
separate hospital tank. Quarantines
should last 30 days to be able to check for signs of disease before
exposing the fish to your current fish and infecting the whole
community.
Make your bird happier!
Spend some extra time with your pet bird. Birds require hours out
of their cages each day. Any extra time spent with them will
enhance the bond between you and your bird. Birds are social
animals and crave the extra attention, and will accept it anytime you
give it. Enjoy Your Pet Snail!
